Music therapy makes it possible to:

  • Become and show your true self.
  • Step into your power and identity.
  • Process feelings of shame and guilt.
  • Embrace confidence and growth.

Music can be used to express our current states — our feelings and our thoughts.

Music therapy can help you become your authentic self.

So, how does it work?

Each individual music therapy session is tailored specifically to you, your personal life experiences, and your goals. Your music therapy session may include songwriting, creating music, listening and analyzing music or lyrics, relaxing to music, or improvising (creating on-the-spot) music. Often, music can speak for us when the words aren’t there yet.

To be a participant in music therapy requires no prior experience or formal training in music.

The purpose of music therapy is not to aim for musical perfection, but rather to promote holistic healing and acceptance of self.

FOR US & BY US

a note from Freddy, owner of Attune Music & Wellness

I am a queer person of color. I have founded Attune Music & Wellness because I want to break down the stigma of therapy and am offering services that are meant especially “for us and by us.”

Through music therapy, I address themes around intersectionality, code switching, minority stressors, and feelings of “less than.” We are stronger together through learning, leaning on one other, and growing side by side.

How do we get started?

Currently, all of our music therapy services are paid for out of pocket and taking place via telehealth due the COVID-19 pandemic. We have a vision of being able to provide a sliding scale and/or scholarship in the future.

Attune Music & Wellness also offers group and contract music therapy services to organizations, businesses, and centers in the Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill, North Carolina areas. Please click here to find out more about our group/contract services.
